Glaswegian Folk-Rock artist Michael Cooke has teased us with the release of his debut album, ‘Doin’ Alright’ – which is set to drop on November 2nd. With influences drawn from a variety of artists such as Mumford & Sons and Lumineers – with other comparisons including Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Cooke’s aspirations couldn’t be higher.
Released earlier this year, ‘Losing My Mind For Nothing’ is a true ear-worm, and arguably the perfect single to set up the release of ‘Doin’ Alright’. Influenced by the music he grew up listening to, his parent’s love of sixties folk rock acts, and his own passion for a plethora of indie singer-songwriters, the first track to be released from the album is Losing for Mind Nothing – a slowly burning indie-influenced track which is accompanied by a suitably atmospheric and dramatic video (below).
Spending a plethora of his time in Glasgow and London, Michael Cooke has never taken a potential career lightly – his early ambition of becoming an Olympic athlete were dramatically curtailed due to injury. Since, he has gone on to develop a strong career in acting, with success on stage, small and silver screens.
Now though, he feels that music is his true calling – and we couldn’t agree more!
