In an age where genre classifications seem ever-more limiting and irrelevant – the recent rise of duo SAZ reaffirms that you can’t put contemporary artists into pre-defined boxes anymore…
Their sound comes from so many different places its difficult to place – acoustic guitars with hip-hop beats recall Alt-J, a slow melodic vocal style that reminds us of Drake and clean, reverb-heavy guitars seems to suggest a direct influence of Foals. Hailing from North London SAZ comprise of Zane Morris and Kelvin Bueno who are very much in control of their careers – they are founders of a North West London self-sustaining community of creatives, both working models and collaborators with a number of other London musician.
SAZ’s forthcoming EP, Dread Full, is a tribute the sadly high number of musicians who have passed away this year, from Chester Bennington to Mac Miller. To follow this release they are currently finishing a full length LP, 22 Reasons to Stay – and if they keep up their impressive record of artistic innovation it will surely send them into high places in the industry…
