Just a glance at Emma Welsby’s resume will explain the smorgasbord of influences that can be found in Uno Prism’s music.
The artist, who was born in Manchester, boasts a classical background in percussion, a credit on a number one dance album, and a stint playing drums for Harley Davidson at festivals around Europe. Not forgetting that the musician’s weapon of choice is the vibraphone.
With all things considered, it’s no surprise that the music she’s creating under her pseudonym, Uno Prism, is so diverse. Her brand of slick nu-jazz inflected electronica combines a vibes expertise with bone-rattling bass rhythms, sweeping cinematic strings, gossamer-like vocals and electronic thrums, resulting in a sound that will resonate with fans of Bonobo, Cinematic Orchestra and Boards of Canada.
She dubs her music a ‘decompression from life’ and with the blissed-out vibes on new single ‘Into Place’ we can hardly disagree. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for new music from the polymath.
